Here you go boys and girls. A little inside scoop. This deer was scored last night by a very tenured Boone and Crockett Scorer. The deer NETS 309 7/8". This may not be the offical book score if he gets panel scored but should be close. He was shot in Huntington County with a shotgun. Don't know much more other than this is legit from what I know! Don't know the hunters name but I can assure you his life is about to change.

I am not aware of this deer being at the show. I'm sure we would make room for it if the owner offered to bring it.

Heck of a buck, Zolton Dobsa's non typical of 254 1/8 has held the number one spot since 1977!

Long time coming to break the record........

If that score holds won't that be the biggest hunter killed whitetail ever? Isn't Tony Lovestuen the biggest now at 307+?

My hope is someone pulled the jaw and gets an age estimate on the deer.

Indiana has always had the potential for this type of deer all it/they need is "time". We are making progress in Indiana slowly but surely.

If the score holds up we will be seeing this deer on several magazine covers. I hope he took a boat load of photographs at the scene as well as later photo ops.

Again if anyone is fortunate to kill a deer of this size(typical or non typical) in todays world it is imperative that it is well documented. That way no "stories" begin to muddy the waters.

Potentially the largest non-typical buck killed by a hunter anywhere, anytime....killed...in Indiana.

Not Iowa, Not Ohio, Not Illinois....but Indiana.....

Congrats to the hunter and looking forward to reading his story.

I am a truck driver and I drive all over Indiana with the exception of the southeast.I have seen alot of big bucks.I had to do some hardcore manuvering to miss hitting the biggest buck I have ever seen on the southside of Muskatatuck 2 years ago.But I would have never guessed a monster like that from Huntington county.

Yep, and not good news for the guys who don't like leasing. Ground next to the last Ohio, "Highland county monster" record caliber deer tripled in price and what wasn't leased became leased.

Hopefully guys in the area have good relationships established with property and landowners.

On "another site" that I frequent, one of the regulars there (who writes for a major deer hunting magazine), said he knows who scored it and that the 309 7/8 score is legit.

Unbelievable, any wagers on the illegal stories brewing? All over North America. Does this mean everyone will be flocking here now bothering us trespassing?

I know the scorer as well and I consider it legit. I wouldn't have posted if I didn't.

I have to say this site has been very professional with this story. I posted this on ODMA as well and man did the disbelievers come out of the woodwork.

It is still hard to believe he scores that high but the info I have received is 30" beams, 24" inside and mass measurements all above 5" makes the rack alone score over 100" without any points! 13 point mainframe is very clean side to side with only 10" of deductions meaning 24 points just add to the madness on this big fella!

To All:

It would appear that the successful hunter does not want pictures posted at this time, I would ask that we all respect his wishes. I'm not going to delete this post but let's respect his wishes continuing on.

This is a great deer, it is great to see that this site has not started rumors as to the validity of this accomplishment. Good job folks!

I will say I have been told Three(3) bucks from Indiana scoring over 200" will be on display this weekend at the Deer&Turkey Expo. Come out and join us!

Excellent picture of the deer posted by Boone and Crockett on their facebook page.

The scorer that scored it references his kitchen tile squares are 9" to give you a reference for point length etc.

You was the B&C scorer. I believe I know all of them.

I will throw this out there if anyone cares, I pheasant hunt at roush lake and when I was checking in on sunday, I heard the property manager on the phone with someone and he told them that pheasant hunters pushed a 26 pointer to a guy hunting on ( he mentioned the name of the farm but I will not) when they started hunting on Saturday morning. So yes a public land deer shot off on private ground. Oh and by the way congrats to the lucky hunter.

DNA Typo, I was not the scorer! Nor does any post i have say that I was...

Good grief, I would be more nervous to score it than to shoot it smile !

Congrats to the hunter!!

One thing for sure is that this deer proves that the majority of Internet hunters have no clue how to score a deer. Saw on Facebook one guy said "maybe 150's". Lol

Hunter's Name is Tim Beck and a Statement released from Boone and Crockett..........

Beck Buck Comes in as #2 NT Hunter-taken Whitetail.

"The scoring procedure has been reviewed and after tine classification was verified this deer scores an amazing 305 7/8. Three tines originally scored as normal were deemed abnormal. On t...his particular head it took away 2/8 in deductions but when the H4 circumference measurements were taken with the correct classification the circumferences dropped a few inches resulting in a lower net score than the original posted 308 5/8. The final tally on this deer is 222 4/8 gross typical frame 93 7/8 in abnormals, and the reason that this buck’s final score ranks it as the largest non typical whitetail taken in the last decade and the second largest in hunter taken in history is that it only has 10 4/8 of deductions left to right."

Another look at Tim Beck's enormous Indiana whitetail. It's currently the #4 all time non-typical and the #2 hunter taken non-typical whitetail at an impressive 305-7/8.

Congratulations Tim!

One heck of a buck!!! Nice job. Indiana is gonna be well defined now. Wouldn't surprise me to be a close one killed in Indiana again in next ten years. Congrats again and cherish all the moments ahead!

I guess I have a bit of a hard time assessing what Indiana is doing in regard to B/C thinking it's right. Since the implementation of the one buck rule, it seems like Indiana has experienced more and more bucks with higher scores. (you notice I didn't use the word trophy because a score in itself doesn't mean a trophy, to me) I do think hunter attitude change and leasing are the main issues, both of which I don't really think the DNR has had much to do with it. Indiana has always had more nutrition then a deer herd twice this size could eat and the production of high scoring bucks is pretty much a matter of age. I don't believe there really is a need to reduce the herd size or the number of does for an increased production of higher scoring bucks.
