I will throw this out there if anyone cares, I pheasant hunt at roush lake and when I was checking in on sunday, I heard the property manager on the phone with someone and he told them that pheasant hunters pushed a 26 pointer to a guy hunting on ( he mentioned the name of the farm but I will not) when they started hunting on Saturday morning. So yes a public land deer shot off on private ground. Oh and by the way congrats to the lucky hunter.

DNA Typo, I was not the scorer! Nor does any post i have say that I was...

Good grief, I would be more nervous to score it than to shoot it smile !

Congrats to the hunter!!

One thing for sure is that this deer proves that the majority of Internet hunters have no clue how to score a deer. Saw on Facebook one guy said "maybe 150's". Lol

Hunter's Name is Tim Beck and a Statement released from Boone and Crockett..........

Beck Buck Comes in as #2 NT Hunter-taken Whitetail.

"The scoring procedure has been reviewed and after tine classification was verified this deer scores an amazing 305 7/8. Three tines originally scored as normal were deemed abnormal. On t...his particular head it took away 2/8 in deductions but when the H4 circumference measurements were taken with the correct classification the circumferences dropped a few inches resulting in a lower net score than the original posted 308 5/8. The final tally on this deer is 222 4/8 gross typical frame 93 7/8 in abnormals, and the reason that this buck’s final score ranks it as the largest non typical whitetail taken in the last decade and the second largest in hunter taken in history is that it only has 10 4/8 of deductions left to right."

Another look at Tim Beck's enormous Indiana whitetail. It's currently the #4 all time non-typical and the #2 hunter taken non-typical whitetail at an impressive 305-7/8.

Congratulations Tim!

One heck of a buck!!! Nice job. Indiana is gonna be well defined now. Wouldn't surprise me to be a close one killed in Indiana again in next ten years. Congrats again and cherish all the moments ahead!

I guess I have a bit of a hard time assessing what Indiana is doing in regard to B/C thinking it's right. Since the implementation of the one buck rule, it seems like Indiana has experienced more and more bucks with higher scores. (you notice I didn't use the word trophy because a score in itself doesn't mean a trophy, to me) I do think hunter attitude change and leasing are the main issues, both of which I don't really think the DNR has had much to do with it. Indiana has always had more nutrition then a deer herd twice this size could eat and the production of high scoring bucks is pretty much a matter of age. I don't believe there really is a need to reduce the herd size or the number of does for an increased production of higher scoring bucks.
