Has anyone found any sheds yet? Looking forward to going this weekend and was curious if anyone has had any luck. Post pics if you can. Thanks

Last weeks trail cam pictures at my place shows all the boys still packin' their hardware. But, they are notorious for carrying them into April around there.

Finding a few .....most still packing Headgear on my cams.

Here's one that had all of his headgear at noon.....and by around 4:45 pm, he'd left me one to find..... cool I hate it when they don't lose them at the same time.....

LOL!! We think alike.....I dug around in that hay to see if it was laying there. One year I had 9 different sheds in one week laying in my hay piles. They spar over that food.....and pop them off more often than you'd think.

Parker........

100% pure alfalfa.......3rd or 4th cut is what I try to get my hands on. They flock to it like dogs to bacon. Yaz calls it my "Magic Hay"....... laugh I use it from January till Mid March mixed with a 22% protein meal I have made at an area feedmill (you can see the 22% grain meal mix stuck to the bucks nose in the first pic). It helps in getting inventory on the bucks in my area that made it.......promotes quick nutritional gain for the bucks that are recovering from the rut,..... and for does that are carrying fawns.

........and coughs up a shed or two as they spar at times.

It's fun........It's healthy.........but it's a little costly with such high grain prices right now.

Once the bucks get used to it.......it can get a little comical......especially if you're a button buck hanging out with dudes with antlers.......

Click on video.........

A few deer walked out in front of my car tonight as I was getting close to home, so I got my spotlight out and checked them out. 7 deer, 4 bucks and they all still had their antlers.

I just found a nice left side of an 8pt not 75yrds from the house in the hayfield today.

The hay sounds like a good plan Dew and I am sure it helps kick start the bucks and doe carrying fawns for the spring time.

I have all of my bucks as half racks or no head gear right now on our farm, but have been unable to find the first shed. I saw a 130's buck with both sides Friday by my house.

I went last saturday in Jackson County. Was skeptical about going this early cuz I normally don't even look for them til mushroom and turkey season and then I just kinda keep an eye out for everything at the same time but this year decided to go ahead and try to get out there early and get them fresh so they wouldn't be all chewed up. Don't know if they have all shedded yet but after about 20 minutes I found what looked like about a 2.5 year old 50-55 inch side with 5 points. Then I got the fever and looked for about 7 more hours trying to find the other side or more sheds from other bucks. Jumped a few deer that had no antlers but they may have been does. Never found the other side unfortunately. Did find a doe and a spike skull and a turtle shell though. Found several turkey feathers too. But no more sheds just the one. Think its from a buck I actually have trail cam pics of from this last season too. He will be very nice next year. Been watching several deer in my backyard in my security light every night before work. They come right up to my house. Even had 17 of them one night 2 yards to 20 yards away from house. None of them had antlers... lived in Jackson County all my life but just moved to a different area in the county. So not sure if theres just a lotta does around here or most of the bucks have shedded. Have a hunch that there are still a descent amount of bucks still carrying there headgear or atleast half. Despite seeing all the antlerless deer everynight in my backyard... but just not sure..

A spike today, a trophy tomorrow...

My buddy is THEE LUCKIEST shed hunter on the planet. Last year we started walkin an area where he spotted a tip stickin up on a berm. He gets up there and there sits 9....NINE. A couple three more for him that day, and a HUGE buck found dead. (140+ incher) He also found 3 other very nice bucks dead between 125-140 inches. Just unreal... So far this year hes found 8. The other day he took his kids to the park, they spotted some turkeys and were chasing them. When he catches up to the kids, they were almost STANDING on a huge shed at the park. It just isnt right, I,m tellin ya. heres a shot of his finds so far this year...

Oh another 3 hrs in the book! Great exercise but convinced the deer at the farm are antelope! LOL! They must shed on the neighbors! Tracks and trails and beds everywhere, no bone...

Been watching this guy the last few years. Named him "Double Barrel" for his nice Double Bib he has. He was not quite ready to shoot yet this year........hoping he will blossom to the "hit list" next year.....but he may need more than 1 more year. My buddy passed this deer at 30 yards with a crossbow in late season this year.......we both agreed he needs more time as he is just a lower 150's 10 point with potential.

This is the Bachleor Group he ran with most of the summer.......he is the buck in the rear that day.......

Well.......today after running the winter feed stations.........I found a gift he left for me about 90 yards away from one of my winter feed stations. Love finding them covered a little in the snow....

Saddled back up on the ATV and finished up for the day.......

Got into another area, and didn't find any sheds........but found some promising sign for next years pursuit. The knife in the pic is 8 inches long unfolded.........

Lots of hard antlers still on the cams.........too early to hit it hard yet.......but looking forward to 2013 Bow Season already.

Nice finds. I was surprised yesterday when the deer hit the corn feed to feed and there were a number of bucks, little guys and 140 plus guys, still carrying both sides.

I'd say my cams are showing about 60% off and 40% on still in our area.

I walked my place near Madison on Thursday and Friday, no luck on finding any sheds, but I did see a couple of nice bucks with both sides and one buck with one side. I also saw a few deer without any antlers that could have been bucks that had already dropped them, just wasn't close enough to tell.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
