Had some luck on my Newfoundland hunt last week and took this 'stag'. That's what the Newfoundland locals call a bull Woodland Caribou. It rained daily and we were contending with a low cloud ceiling that made glassing a challenge. But the weather started to clear Wednesday afternoon and we spotted this bull on a distant ridgeline with a few cows. I learned that these animals are very approachable, even sometimes curious, but only up to about 100 yards. And then to get much closer you have to sneak in. Ended up making a 50 yard shot on the last fleeting chance as he was about to take off with his cows, but it was a good arrow that struck the top of the heart and broke the far leg. The sun popped out just in time for picture taking.
