Killed this evening...
Another female I've taken off my hunting property while deer hunting since season started... 4 total now.

Me & George will start chasing them hard after the new year!

Do you trap them, Greg?
That's the best way to do real population control, of course.... but it is just more fun to me to hunt them instead.

I have been hunting them since mid December. The population is heavy around me but I've only popped 4 so far. One red colored yearling pup, one big female and two big males. The prices for coyotes have been up good this year. Up to $30 for a good male coyote. I'm probably going to start trapping as I think the coyotes are starting to get call shy a bit. There's a lot more than just me hunting them around here.

Ive been waiting on cold weather and snow so I can set snares. I usually catch around 10 on my property each year. Last year I got 7 females. Its a lot easier to set snares in the snow. Once a you find a dog track coming out of a thicket if you set that track they usually will follow the same trail they used before.....in a few days dog will be in your snare if you've set it right. I switched from trapping to snaring because of bum knee and bad back. Setting snares I dont have to bend over too far. I did shoot a male in muzzleloader season. h.h.

Went yote calling this morning, had a female respond to dying rabbit call. Took her out about 150 yards with .223. Been waiting on snow to set snares and managed to get 5 hung today. Be calling again in the morning then run snares. Hoping 1 or 2 will be setting waiting on me tomorrow. Female today was in prime heat, she was swelled big. h.h.

Thanks Bo, Right now males are on the move since its prime mating season. If you got a yote problem now is the time to work on them. You'll never get rid of yotes but you can get them thinned down so the females aint killing so many of your fawns this spring. Yote hunting is right at the top along side deer hunting for me, very enjoyable. h.h.

Yessir, I thoroughly LOVE hunting coyotes!
It's becoming quite the addiction for me... just haven't had much time this season yet.
Talking about addiction... check out my new post in this forum... got me a new toy!! 😁

The snares I set yesterday produced one male this morning. He has nice fur for a mild winter. Thats another one out of my population. h.h.

Sold the female carcass and got 20.00 for her. The male I got tuesday I got 25.00. Yotes prices are up this year, good demand for them. Rest of the fur market has not much of a demand. Plan is to call this morning then go run sares and set a few more. Goal is 10 dogs off my property this year and the more females I catch the better for the wildlife on my property. h.h.

Bo,

My property is close to GM plant in allen county outside Ft Wayne, my neighbor has family in Woodburn and he takes them to a fur buyer in woodburn for me. Long haul for you. Nice thing is I can sell them whole, dont have to skin. Called 3 spots this morning and no response, ran my snares, empty. I set two more on game trails. I looked in the snow and found no new yote tracks. Those 7 females I took out last year put the hurts on my population. If any of you guys have any questions about snaring please ask. I'll be glad to help in any way. Once you get on to setting snares its easy to catch yotes if they are there. Time to catch them is now. Im heading to Florida next week to bow hunt wild hogs at Palmdale which is next to Lake Okeechobee. The lease is 325,000 acres. While Im gone my neighbor will run snares. h.h.
