Ladies and Gentlemen;

My 8 year son has coined a phrase that I find rather catchy and appropriate with some of the recent posts about Tree Stand Safety. Every night that we get into the stand he immediately looks and me and says, "Hook Me Up" dad. Someone last year started a similar post to connect those that need safety harnesses with those that may have some extra harnesses. I will get it started with 6 or 8 extras that I have and would be willing to ship to anyone that could and "will" use them. These are the basic harnesses that come with most tree stands but are more than sufficient to "get the job done. Please don't take a chance- just say the words "Hook Me Up" along with you name and address and I will get them out as soon as possible.

These things do save lives! This is coming from someone that fell head first out of a 20+ foot stand several years ago. Yes my harness caught me after a short 5 or 6 ft fall.

Anyone else that may have or need a harness please post it here.

Great Idea Guys. I my self have step it up a notch this year, although in my profession over the last 25 yrs. I have to wear a safety harness back then in the beginning. But now I wear it because I want too and I have carried that religiously over into my hunting. This yr I am attaching safety lines too my stands, made 3 more up last night while watching dancin with the star's (LOL) it took no time as I have been instructed in rigging.
Gundude I hear you, Hope the admins and the mods are listing. I'm sure it just couldn't be done over night tho.

Good stuff!

I gave 4 away at the Hunter Safety course that I taught in August. I give several away every year.

That freakin ground doesnt have much give to it. Ill tell you that. And i wouldnt wish what im going through on my worst enemy. I think all of us at some point become lazy on this issue.. not just tree stands...i dont want to read about another hunter shot or falling ... all preventably .. its our duty yo make sure that we educate everyone.

I have a brand new one out of my new Summit stand box opened yesterday, could send or give to one of you safety instructors to give away.

Also, remember that all safety harnesses usually have some sort of shelf life, make sure you inspect them and replace when the manufacturer say's to!!

I currently have one, but have a friend that wants to hunt with me this year that doesnt. Is there a way I could get an extra for him to use. I dont want him in a stand without one and if I could save him some money that would be great.

Just to clarify, I bought a HSS that I wear. If anyone wants the extra I have let me know. I think I have a couple that came with the ladder stands I bought last year. If I can dig them out I will post them on here.

The safety page is a great addition to the site. Attached is an article from last year that I swiped from another site . . . but the message is still the same.

http://www.mlive.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2011/09/tree_stand_accident_numbers_do.html

Along the same lines. On average, 33% of all fatalities in the construction trade result from falls from elevated heights.
