Got a question on controlling cattails . Have a friend who has a pond that is getting taken over by cattails. I have read need to cut them down to just above the water line then treat. Have read can just spray them as is?And like most anything there seams to be a hundred different products to treat them with. I had thought that if they need to be cut, to wait till the pond freezes over then back a bush hog down from the bank, then spray? Or stock a couple hundred muskrats LOL Any advice?

I'd wait until they've grown good and the seed head has formed, then treat them with about a 4 oz per gallon solution of 41% Glyphosate. Add a heavy dose of surfactant in your spray tank.
