Looking for opinions on both. Looking for a new squirrel popper so accuracy, optic/red dot ready, good trigger and reliability a must. Anyone have or used both? Issues or complaints on either?

I own the Competition Mark II... had a friend buy the Buckmark, another bought the S&W model 41.
We did a lot of target play... and friendly competition over 3yr span. My gun out shot theirs.... no matter whose hands it was in!
I only shoot Rem HP's out of it.

If I was to buy another.... it would be another Ruger.
That's my 2ยข

I had a late 80's Buckmark and traded it off eventually. No complaints or failures to feed or eject that I can recall. Cool gun. Decent trigger and accuracy. I always heard the Browning is easier to break down and clean but have no personal experience with the Ruger. Hard to go wrong with either of those two brands so I'd say it's a personal choice. Maybe Santa will bring you one and make your mind up for you!

Will they cycle with a suppressor?

My MKii like Bo's has trouble cycling the better quality lower velocity subsonic and target ammo. Suppressed, it cycles then very well. Standard and high velocity it cycles fine. Obviously, get the best accuracy out of the subsonics. Its a tack driver!! Remington makes a decent subsonic hollow point ammo that WILL cycle just fine unsupressed. Not quite as accurate as the some of the better Eley, and RWS subsonic hollow points. But its a lot cheaper and still shoots good enough to kill squirrels.

Ford/Chevy thing, but I like the Buckmark better.

Also, while at the range recently, a fellow let me shoot his S&W 22A. Very accurate and had a good trigger.

Like them both. Tried the mkIII and a buckmark. Killed a lot of critters with the buckmark. Plenty accurate enough for me. Dad had the Ruger and it was sure a looker.
