I have an older Bersa 380. It is the Model 383A. It is a cheap gun but is fun to shoot and also very accurate. Today while shooting, I shot about 30 rounds and the slide went flying across the field. This is what I found. Has anyone heard of this problem?

OOPS! I think I'd be making a phone call to see what they say. Looks like pot metal to me.

Don't take this as offense deer hunter, but it is a Bersa after all... Not exactly high quality comes to mind when it comes to a Bersa...

Thank goodness you were not injured when that happened....

I can't see the pics on this server, but I'm guessing the flip-up retainer that holds it in busted at the screw? I had one break there about 20 years ago on an old .380 I had.

I agree with the comments about it being a cheap gun and I made that comment also. I didn't expect it to come apart while shooting it however.

I sent an e-mail and some pics to Bersa so I will see what they say. I am expecting a "Sorry about your luck."

I know if it happened to one of my Springfields it would be taken care of without any issues. Of course, I can't see that happening to them.

I got a reply from Bersa today. I got the too bad so sad. I guess you buy a cheap gun to shoot and the customer service matches.

That kinda surprises me...seeing how the Thunder is a popular pocket pistol. Good to know, otherwise! I had the exact pistol you show years ago,,and it was a "jam-a-mattic"....got rid of it quick.

It's really a shame IMO because this particular gun was a good shooter for the price. I didn't have the jam issues with it and it shot accurate.

Maybe I'll just have to buy me another EMP to make me feel better! wink

If you still have your Bersa you could try getting replacement parts here.

Thanks for the info, but I don't have it anymore. I just marked it down as a lesson learned and will never deal with them again.
