Well I've been achin' to get a new truck the last couple years. Just passed 130k miles on my old one. With the way full-size truck sales are so poor right now, I guess it's a good time to buy. After dealer discounts, cash back, incentive certificates, and etc, etc, they knocked almost 30% off the sticker price....too good to pass up smile

This 4WD Sierra has the off-road package, heavy-duty towing, and it runs on gas or E85. Fuel economy is nothing to write home about, but if your gonna own a full size truck, that's the pill you swallow.

I'll soon be rollin' west to Colorado in style wink

Very nice!
I keep my '92 Chevy parked due to ~18mpg.
Would love a newer truck, but with 46,000 miles I think I'll keep it.

Good looking truck Greg. MPG will improve over time. I had an '04 Z-71 extended cab that would get about 17-19 mpg loaded with camping gear.

Now we need to see some antlers sticking up over the bedrails. In time I am sure we will see that. Nice truck, good luck out West.

That's a sharp truck. I've always been fan of GMC over Chevy.

On my Sierra the E85 break even point in fuel economy is a $1.20

Meaning it costs the same per mile to drive if gas was $4 and E85 is $2.80 Around here E85 was about $1 less than gas so it was costing me more to run on E85.

If I baby my'07 Z71 Crew Cab I get 15.5 MPG.

Thanks guys. I looked at the Silverados also, and they are nice as well, but I thought the GMC was just a tad more snazzy-looking up front.

HH- on the E85, I've never burned it. I remember the salesman told me several times the break point would be 39 cents a gallon difference to where you'd break even on fuel dollars. From what you're saying that was way off!

My last check I did last month was...

Gas - 15.5MPG @ $3.99 a gallon = $0.26 per mile

E85 - 10.3 MPG @ 2.99 a gallon = $0.29 per mile

Or if E85 was $2.72 a gallon that would equate to $0.26 per mile.

Actually the break point is $1.27 less. I get about 30% less fuel economy with E85. Far less than what GM claims. I know several that have tried E85 but has a stated nothing close to $0.39. That would be great if your does.

But that's OK. Like you said if you want a big truck then that's the pill you'll have to swallow. I love mine. It does sit the garage more often now and use when I need a "truck".

Intersting numbers to know. I don't run E85 too often because there are no pumps here in Madison. The times I have ran it, the mileage is somewhat noticeable.
Nice truck, Sticksender.

Nice looking truck, out of curiousity why didnt you go with the duramax option? They have better fuel economy...if you dont mind the hit at the pump.

maestro- It was tough to locate the exact truck I wanted as far as having the crew cab, off-road package, fully loaded trim features, and color. They did a search for a 500-mile radius and actually found only one truck on a sales lot that matched my wants. Also the diesel verson of this truck with the exact same options runs 11k more on list price.

That would be a determining factor. Wow, I didn't remember the diesel being 11K more.
