About a year ago, every once in a while when you touched the starter button it would just make a clicking sound. then if you put it in gear and or pulled the starter rope the starter would work. Now there is just the clicking sound. i switched the starter relay and confused that was not the problem. i am wondering if the starter is gunked up and is stuck, what you all think? i already made sure tha battery had a good charge...

Had a similar problem with a 400 Foreman.
1st- replace the starter fuse.Don't just check it,replace it.
2nd- check the brushes in the starter and the bearnings (both front and rear).
Brushes are no big deal.Bearnings can be a pain, but fairly cheap to replace. If the starter has to be replaced hold onto your heart when check prices.

Blade fuse . Replace it , do not just check it .
If the starter is bad I do not think you will beat that $119 price (for a new one). Also be sure to check the bearing in the rear cover case. If it is bad the new starter will be toast in short order.
