Needing info on the correct ammo for the CVA Hunter .44 magnum. I'm thinking the Horaday leverloution .225 grain. I also purchased a Bariska 3x9x50 scope. Is this brand of scope reliable?

these work. Only time at the bench will tell you which round is best in your gun. Bariska scopes are on the lower end but should work OK. I think the best value in scopes though is the Redfields. I really like all the redfields I own. Others I would consider would be Nikon, Bushnell, and if budget permits Leopold are excellent.

This is my first deer with the H&R handi rifle and I have never heard a bullet hit like this one did.

My shot hit within a half inch of my aiming point, just behind the shoulder.

She ran right across the open field, towards the four wheeler, then dropped within sight.

Exit wound is on her right side

I got a buddy with that gun and that is what he is using for ammo and it shoots them well. Those guns have a sweet trigger for the price. Most I have seen break at around 3 lbs. No clue on the barska but you get what you pay for with a scope. Have you mounted it yet? May have to use high rings with that 50 bell. And a trigger spur. Nice piece, CVA has improved leaps and bounds through the years.

Mounted the scope already. Had to pick up some shims from outdoorsman. I had a H&R handi .44 and sold it. Huge mistake I know. What's the best gun cleaner for this gun?

I like the H&R's but I'd probably make that trade. You didn't downgrade with that CVA. Plus they are still in business. Yep love the smell of #9

A friend of mine sent me a link from buds guns and I couldn't believe the price. Well built gun with a really thick barrel. Can't wait to get it sighted in. Used the shims for the scope and I can't get the scope covers on. Might have to go to the next set of shims.
