Checked a trail camera that we still have out on a little pond, and saw this buck already starting to grow 'em back. A few others were just getting button knobs, so I'm guessing this one must've shed pretty early in the year. Had another pic from April 2nd with a buck still holding both sides from last year.

Stick.... Not try to steal your thread, but here's a buck that I took a pic of when scouting for turkeys back in 07 still carring his rack.
Make you wonder how often it does occur ?? The date on the pic is Apr 21 07

10 years or so back while mushroom hunting, I saw a buck carrying his last year's rack in early May. He was a basket rack 6 pt. h.h.

maddogmech, that's really late. And hornharvester May is REALLY late! I wonder if these small bucks still carrying a rack that late in the spring were maybe late-born fawns the previous year.

sticksender....not sure but Im guessing for some reason their testosterone levels stay high enough their racks dont get the signal to fall off. h.h.
