Well it was an interesting morning but we finally found the right (by this I mean naive clueless button buck) and my son got it done. We had a decent 2.5 yr old buck come in earlier in the morning but to his credit he couldn't find his shoulder in the scope so he didn't shoot. Same thing with a doe a little later in the morning. Finally we saw this guy who gave him all the time we needed to get the shot and he hit his mark, a little back but hit liver deer didn't go 40 yards and hit the ground. Words can't explain the feeling of watching him shoot his first deer, not sure why but it got to me emotionally a lot more than when he shot his turkey. Either way at 6 yrs old this little guy is having a great season. I couldn't be any prouder

Awesome!!!! My first deer was a button buck too. I couldn't have been prouder if it was a 150 incher. That 150 incher is still eluding me after 30 years. Heck I think the 140 incher is eluding me.

You done good young man.

Great story! Congratulations to you and your son. I fully understand the emotions of your child getting the first one. My son was the old age of 9 years old when he got his though! laugh

Congrats again! Great job!!

Man, congrats to you and your boy. One of many hunts to be had by you guys. Can't wait till my oldest hits the woods with me. They are well in tuned to what dad has been doing this month of Nov.
Congrats again to the both of you.
