The IDHA is proud to be a participant in the Northeast Wayne county school system NASP. Again the IDHA steps forward to promote archery in an Indiana school system.

Good luck Bean..............

Looking forward to working with the schools, students and community. It has been recieved well from the top down.

Thanks to the IDHA for support. This has been sportsmen at their best and that is giving back and investing in the future.

Thanks to the DNR and Tim Beck for helping me through this and doing the NASP. I am pretty pumped about learning the process and then teaching the kids. Going to be a fun ride.

3 gym teachers and myself are getting trained in a couple weeks. School is working in the curriculum for the Spring semester. Archery equipment is delivered and ready.

Kids and families are excited for this to start. Should be a good time.

when I was in grade school, archery was part of gym class in high school. By the time I got to high school they dropped it for safety concerns. Glad to see it being brought back...should have never left in the first place.

The guys who run Winamac Fish and Wildlife property are working hard to get a a school up there to agree to this program this year. If so, the IDHA has indicated that it will assist in the funding. Hopefully they can get it done. Thanks to Joe B for alerting me to the federal funding component and for getting me to get off my butt and contact Tom and Tony at Winamac.

Sad update. Even a Fish and Wildlife property manager couldn't convince the Winamac School Corp to allow this program. Apparently the schools felt the bows were weapons.

Kinda of surprised by that... You could try going to try Knox schools or Pioneer in Royal Center...

Ironically, Pioneer was approached also via a different angle. The CO who owns property across from our farm, just west of Royal Center, had contacted Pioneer, but I believe that fell through as well.

Could help if someone produced a well-done documentary video that follows Indiana students from their first time shooting a Genesis bow, all the way through competing in the national tournament in Florida. You'd expect apprehension from those who've never touched a bow....maybe they just need to be shown.

Stick, that is a great idea and probably one worth consideration from the IDHA since it would clearly support the mission of youth education.
