Recently I had a conversation with an IDNR employee and asked about the hiring of a new deer biologist and how it was progressing. I was told not very well, it seems few biologists want to be Indiana's deer biologist and even fewer for the pay available to them. this also (pay wis) applies to any type of biologist.

I was told that Indiana was at the bottom of the pay scale and Michigan was "stealing" our biologist with the money they had available. Chad Stewart left for a considerable pay raise and another biologist left for more money and a guarantee of a 20% increase in the first year.

Troubling.........

Indiana is and has been for a long time, a training ground for biologists.

At a meeting with IDNR rep this evening and still no person for the deer biologist person. also lost another DNR person to the private sector this week, this one was not just your regular IDNR employee. Sorry can't make public those details yet.

So I am curious, Joe, if that is information regarding a state agency, why is that information only privileged to you and not all the citizen's of Indiana? I am further curious, why, as representing yourself here as a leader of the IDHA, President is how I believe you signed many posts within this forum, you are withholding information from the members you represent? Just wondering, and eagerly awaiting your reply!

What do you have against keeping citizens and members educated and being transparent? Is there something wrong with that CRAP as you call it? Maybe you like being in the dark, most don't, nor should they expect it!

I can't make it public because I don't have the full story yet Gary.

Jeff, not much, we have an administration for the most part does not want public input. As was said by an ex DNR employee last night. "They(IDNR)have the ability to alter and change the deer management plan they just refuse to do so."

onthefly, just ignore Gary he has a personal issue with me.....

Absolutely no personal issue at all with you. I have only responded to your statements about me, actually. You have been invited to the Deer Summit and refused. I have no personal problem with anyone, advocating for the deer herd and uniting deer enthusiasts all over the state. You are still very welcome at the Deer Group Summit, being moderated, you have received invitations, as I was cc'd to the invitation and your responses came directly to me. You had deleted some when you replied to all, but not me. So those emails are in my personal inbox from you. Thank you, but really wish you could make it and attempt to unite the deer enthusiasts of the state. Sad that you feel you cannot participate and want to continue divisiveness.

All interactions with a state agency, if shared with any citizen's, should be shared with all or none. Transparency is good in any endeavor with those that operate on our dollar.

So when and where is this Deer Group Summitt you speak of Gary????

Wouldn't want anyone to be "in the dark"as you call it!!

BTW.... If this meeting is about PUBLIC Deer, by all means no one should need a invite to attend!...Unless someone wants to hide something !!!

Gary, It appears you still have anger issues.....

I attend many meetings with various wildlife advocate groups, I am always as transparent as I can be. Sometimes I am asked to keep some things under my hat and I respect that, that's why I am invited back!

Here is a teaser..... Buffalo in Indiana......really?

Brew you need to talk to Delaney about the meeting invites. Not my idea, nor do I have anything to do with moderation. But think thread on here about it. If you are unable to read it, you should take up with Delaney.

Joe do not know what my personality or any issues I personally have would have a thing to do with deer management in Indiana? But will ask is your personal invitation to come “back” above transparency to the citizens by a state agency and the members you say you lead? Seems you have an issue with transparency and some issues that do affect your members, all one has to do is read your threads on this site attacking a group and me personally with issues that have nothing to do with the deer herd management, making it political. However, when the record is set straight you delete the posts. There is no transparency whatsoever. That is the only problem I have with anything, nothing personal, no anger, just upset with the manipulation, and opaqueness surrounding the real issues, and the downright effort to squelch the voice of the Indiana Deer Enthusiast if it does not go through you. Simple.
