The leader of the Indiana Senate said Wednesday that a bill to legalize and regulate fenced deer hunting will remain in the rules committee he controls until the GOP caucus finds a solution “that’s fair and reasonable.”

It might mean it will not pass in the Senate and he's buying time or maybe votes

I understand there is a move to make the guidelines in the bill more restrictive. Pretty certain it will get a hearing. How it comes out is too close to call right now.

Contact all the senators you can on this issue.

This seems to be good news. Looks like Sen. Long is at least leaning the way of a "NO". I sent him an email. Thanks for the heads up.

This is going to come out for a hearing, it all rides on what rules people want. Preserves ARE NOT going to be put out of business, there can be a little influence from voters. Two points I would like to make

1. When an owner retires or dies so does the preserve, no sale or transfer of the preserve.

2. The tax payers of Indiana (both sportsmen and general public) are not responsible for ANY indemnification (State funds/taxes/IDNR will not be responsible for any costs when a facility looses deer due to disease check or eradication when TB or CWD is found) . Preserve and deer farmers need to insure their deer herds as well as post a bond for any damages/costs the state of Indiana might incur.

In another thread I posted both of these conditions... I feel that they are probably the most important rules that could be added...

I'm afraid that these could be added and then removed if it gets passed as both houses will have to agree for it to become law...

I firmly believe that both BOAH and DNR should be
playing a large role in what is needed, and what people want for restrictions.
