You know it's bad when you spend 11 hrs (6am-5pm central time)in a deer stand and all you see is 3 squirrels and a possum. The possum would probably bring 3 to 6 dollars this yr but I was not going to pack it the 3/4 mile that I hiked back in the HNF so I let him walk. Heck I had to watch him to amuse myself. The only other action I seen was an inch worm crawling around my climbing bar. This is the worst season for deer sightings for me ever and I have had some bad years. It's still better than working.

Dang PB...wish it was better for you. I know I have it tough deer hunting up here, but DANG! I did see some deer yesterday evening. Its about 1 in 5 sits I get to see a deer now. I believe after opening weekend of firearm season (I'm still hunting with my bow), I'm hanging it up for trapping till late December.

It has been really tuff. I think it makes it worse cause I want to get a few so bad cause I want to bury some steel and hang some snares. I have been at it hard. I have hunted 15 out of 16 mornings and 13 evenings and have only seen 5 deer. I thought about starting a thread instead of "Live from the stand" make it "Dead from the stand" for guys that cant see a deer. Lol

I know the frustruation , I was in KY all weekend sitting in the 30 MPH winds thinking man what a waste of time. Was about to give up and ended up shooting a real big doe.

As I was walking out Sunday around noon, I came across a possum in the middle of the logging road - just his head - looked like someone cut it off with a knife - think he had a bad encounter with some yotes - probably played possum instead of running for a tree - didn't work out to well with yotes, ha ha.
