Just got back from fishing and caught about 50-60 lbs or more of cats this evening trolling crankbaits. My buddy from Florida caught the first one and it was a blue around 10 lbs or more. He caught 15 total and I caught 6. Mostly channel cats with 2-3 blues. All were in the 4-6 lbs range.
They were stacked up in one spot and would hit every time we trolled through. Some times we had doubles. Ive never seen cats in one spot like that and not sure why they were there. We released all of them. Also caught 10-15 white bass. Great evening of fishing. I'll try and post a picture of his fish tomorrow. h.h.

You've had a great summer fishing experience. Nice looking catfish in that picture.

Originally posted by Yaz: They are no different than stripers, and follow the bait fish. Were you marking schools of juvenile shad? I often mistake schools of cats for stripers. They suspend on the thermocline also. That would be good eating size! No, these cats were up in 5 ft of water and stacked in one spot. I figured they might be getting ready to spawn. h.h.
