Solomon, my father and I used to fish the upper lake in Monticello in the winter for crappies and did reasonably well. Remember a day when the snow was blowing like crazy and there was a boat with a couple of guys catfishing in the channel just a little north of Stephensons trailer park and they were pulling them in one after another. Always something biting somewhere!

Dawn - there are some pretty good fishing spots in Michigan and you can have the river to yourself/guide. We went on a trip last Winter and had a blast and it helped the "itch" - well, probably made it worse.
Looking to do it again.

I'm actually glad for the little bit of "down time". I'm rough on my boat and gear. By the end of the season, it seems like every nut, bolt, and screw needs to be tightened back up, replace pumps, wire correctly all the "quick fixes" I do on the water and on the road…etc. I'd make the trips to warmer water this time of the year, except those ole, fat, hay processors are having calves this time of year, and I need to be there 24-7.
