Anyone have any info, recommendations, reviews on wall tents?

Never used one before, but thinking about it for upcoming elk hunt in October. Usually pull a pop-up camper, but looking for other options.

Anyone by chance have one for sale, rent, or borrow?

Had a 12x12 Alaknak with a wood stove from Cabela's. Loved it. A friend of ours has a 12x14 from Davis tent. Great tent. I would highly recommend canvas.....

Thanks for the info.

Found a good deal on ebay, but it's in Georgia for local pickup only smile

It will not help this year but, a lot of people buy these tents and then return them after the season is over. Keep an eye out on these sites because they will put them up for sale.

Thewalltentshop has a couple for sale now that were demo's...

Agree with Den57....canvas is great.

That said, unless I knew EXACTLY where I would be elk hunting....with zero chance of moving campsites during the hunt....I would shy away from a big, heavy tent. The more trouble it is to move...the less likely it gets moved. I have a Cabelas Bighorn tent...and have considered downsizing for that very reason.

Thanks for the feedback guys. We may just stick with the popup again this year.

Pav - I was going to say the same thing as Den57: let me know if you are ever interested in getting rid of your Cabelas tent smile How was your Alaska hunt?

Haven't thrown in the towel on my Bighorn tent just yet, but will let you guys know if/when that happens. If I do give up the tent, it likely won't be for another tent (the Bighorn is the bomb). Currently considering converting an enclosed trailer into a mini camper.

The Alaska caribou hunt was incredible. We were flown individually in a Super Cub late Sunday afternoon (8/21). Both my hunting partners were done by noon Monday (8/22)...and I filled my tag at 9:00am Tuesday (8/23). All three were good bulls taken with archery gear (including a P&Y qualifier taken with a longbow!). Only one day of rain the entire two weeks! Last trip (2012), it rained every day.
