I'm waiting a bit until it gets colder to set them out. Mild winter means a lot more unwanted varmints will be caught and sorted out before a mink get's caught, unless I'd get lucky.
What you guys baiting your boxes with? Ive thought about catching some small bluegills out of my pound, freezing them until they are used. I mixed up a batch of bait using recipe from the net. Ive used it in 4 pockets sets on my pond with no luck. h.h.
If you're not a hemorrhoid, get off my butt.

I have also found when we have mild weather like we are having, the mink stay more in the fence rows, woods, and weed patches. They don't have to travel the ditches to find food. You can still catch them, but I have found your BEST shot is when there is several inches of snow cover, and the temps get cold. The BEST for mink trapping is when the ditches start to freeze over, and you can still find open water, where tiles dump in. Those are mink magnets!
