I made two of these boxes with the help of you tube. I like these over triggers. They are not hard to make. The trap hangs off of a killer clip attached to the roof of the box. Ive got maybe 10.00 in each box including the trap. h.h.

I used a 1x8" bottom board on the box to raise up the trap off the ground and it gave me a good place to anchor the trap to the box. h.h.

Thats will work great HH. I was going to tell you that I've had much better luck with boxes, and ditch tile sets where the back was left open, or had hardware cloth on them. They are less hesitant if they can see completely through them. But I see you figured that out. NOW, lets see it in action!!!!

I'm waiting a bit until it gets colder to set them out. Mild winter means a lot more unwanted varmints will be caught and sorted out before a mink get's caught, unless I'd get lucky.

What you guys baiting your boxes with? Ive thought about catching some small bluegills out of my pound, freezing them until they are used. I mixed up a batch of bait using recipe from the net. Ive used it in 4 pockets sets on my pond with no luck. h.h.

You have that right HH. I have also found when we have mild weather like we are having, the mink stay more in the fence rows, woods, and weed patches. They don't have to travel the ditches to find food. You can still catch them, but I have found your BEST shot is when there is several inches of snow cover, and the temps get cold. The BEST for mink trapping is when the ditches start to freeze over, and you can still find open water, where tiles dump in. Those are mink magnets!
