HH, I enjoyed seeing your buck from last year, mounted. I remember the field pic, very nice! I picked up a half dozen used conibears and a few leg holds. I may try some rats this year along w some odds and ends, water sets for coon and such. Getting fired up for all things fall. Haven't trapped since the 80's but may give it a whirl again. Have a few places in mind. Hopefully the water will be down by then!

Not even started with that. Had 4 honeybee cutouts in the past ten days and have more to do. Plus 3 trap outs. I will get around to the trapping stuff I like the idea of putting dirt in the barrel.

I got some belisle 330's last year for a beaver job. WOW what a trap. The safety design alone makes them shine above the dukes and bridgers. By far the best body gripper I have used so far...would be an ideal otter trap Originally posted by Yaz: .... MIGHT just have to look at a couple big conni's for otter this year. After these creeks go down, we should have plenty of "clean" mud. That way I can see FRESH tracks. Gonna scout a couple spots I know I can otter trap. But right now……….we are trying to get up our FIRST cut of hay for the year……….

2015-16 will mark the first regulated trapping season for river otters in Indiana. This success story was made possible by restoration efforts in Indiana and other states in the lower Midwest. Federal laws require each otter pelt to be tagged before it is sold, which will be new to most Indiana trappers.
A two-step registration system has been set up to collect harvest information, tag river otters, and gather biological data (see below).
The river otter season will run concurrent with the beaver trapping season (Nov. 15 to March 15 of the following year). The first season will have a quota of 600 otters. If this figure is reached before March 15, the season will close early. Please see current season status at right (under construction).
MANDATORY RIVER OTTER REGISTRATION Step 1: Successful trappers must register their otter within 24 hours using CheckIN Game.
Check in your game with the CheckIN system. Step 2: Successful trappers also must skin the otter and separate the pelt from the carcass before registering the pelt with a designated Indiana DNR employee or official Indiana DNR river otter check station. You must present the skinned river otter carcass, including the head, and pelt, for physical registration and CITES tagging within 15 days after the month of harvest. A list of employees and check stations can be found here:

I sure would like to try this. Got a spot in Cass County that has some otters that would be reasonably easy to trap if the water isn't high.
