This was my son's first year of trapping. He did it all on his own. He got a lot of help from watching YouTube videos (including skinning), and Charlie at Hoosier Trapper Supply. Trapping was something that I never did, and frankly did not know much about nor have any interest in until this year. Admittedly now if I could I would he right there with him, but my all-terrain wheelchair cannot keep up with the Ranger. The thing that impressed me the most was the night he came in and said he thought he found a Mink trail. He said he got down on the ground next to the creek and could tell it was not a deer trail because the weeds above were not knocked down. He had one the next morning, and another one two days later. He is a penny pincher and purchased everything himself. The first two pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago before he sold everything. He has since trapped another coyote.

Well done young man. Welcome to the addiction. Good on Charlie too. He is great to work with and to ask advice.

Is it just me or is that one mink a monster! Well done. I have a 14 year old nephew in the same boat-got addicted to trapping this year as I was as a kid.

Thanks guys. I think he did pretty well for doing most of his trapping on the weekends. He wasn’t overly disappointed that fur prices are so low. I’m really proud of him especially since he is only 13. He had a great year hunting also, and I will post some pictures over in the photo gallery in the next couple of days. And, yes that was a huge Mink!
