I HATE walking up on sets to be able to see them. I don't like leaving the scent…. I always try to run them and look from a distance, and preferably from a vehicle or 4 wheeler. In certain situations, its not always possible, and you have to walk to get to a place to see them. In this case, its a grown up pasture. Most of the snares in this "weed patch" are not easily visible even with binoculars. Even catch circles cannot be seen. I started putting little pieces of fluorescent ribbon on a tall weed close to the set. Now I know where where my sets are at and know the exact area I need to scan with the bino's. Anything gets in the snare or trap is going to knock down every weed in a 6' circle. If you don't see the tape, you know you better go look. I can see the tape above all my set now, and do not have to walk out on them to check them or to know I have something.

You can use a stick for with a flag in open areas next to your snare so you dont have to walk a long way to check. If the flag is down something is likely in your snare. Bad thing is if the snare is tripped you wont know. h.h.
If you're not a hemorrhoid, get off my butt.

Good tip Yaz.
That thicket looks like it would harbor a few rabbits.

However, me personally, I would rather have a snare down once in a while, than having to track up the area every day. I'll still go in once every 7 days or so to look them over to check. Yes, there are several rabbits in there SS. Thanks to Weedy and I's rusty shooting!!! There are a TON of voles and mice in that place. Good hunting grounds for coyotes.

Only problem I see....makes it easy for trap/fur thieves to clean you out in the blink of an eye.
I once let a friend join me on a water line. He took one side of the river while I set the other. He flagged every set.....lost every trap.
Great idea if you have absolute control of tresspassers

I guess there is always a first time….but who the he!! wants to walk a mile to the middle of a two mile section just to cut out a 1/2 dozen cables, and possibly drag a coyote all the way back out???? Not a concern where I'm at.
