I know many of you have trapped a lot longer than me so there will be more stories to pull from. What are some of your trapping bloopers?

I guess mine was today. Last week my coyote lure (fox elixar) was frozen so I put it in my pocket to warm up and thaw out. Today as we were checking traps I kept smelling the lure. Luke did as well. We drove from one spot to another and when I got out of the car I felt a cold damp spot on my leg. I looked down and my lure bottle lid came off and soaked me. I had to scrap all the "parts" use for the lure out of my bibs. 5 hours later I can still smell it.

When I was stationed at Grissom AFB in the late 70s, me and a buddy trapped the Wabash for muskrats. We would check our traps before heading in for duty at the fire department. Well,,,I fell in one icy morning. Standing at roll call with water dripping off my fatigues really impressed my Asst. Chief. laugh

laugh laugh and you NEVER get that odor out of your clothes bean!!!! I would take it to the laundry mat to wash, and not your wife's washer and dryer!!!! I learned that from experience……..

Weedy……I'd paid good money to see that!!!

Bean - Read my "Beaver Control & Lesson Learned" post and you can count that as my worst mishap to date. I've also been there with the lure mishaps too. Between beaver castor and deer estrus, I've learned to keep a tight lid and check my pockets before doing the laundry.

I went through the ice near a beaver dam up to my chest at about age 14. Long cold walk home. My clothes were frozen solid by the time I got home.

Lot of mishaps with lure.

I got some homemade fish juice on my right hand earlier this fall....I had to eat left handed for a couple days as the stench was so bad.

Caught a skunk in a 220 last year with one safety on and the skunk was still alive. Found out skunks cant fire at you if they are pinned in a trap. h.h.
