The wife and I went to the IU, Michigan State basketball game today. On the way up on Hwy 37 i seen a big billboard between Bedford and bloomington that had a picture of a dog in a conibear and it says something like. "Trappers murdered my dog, yours may be next" It was one of those things that you say "If people would keep control of their dogs and not let them run loose. Anyone else ever see a billboard like this one?

I could not believe it when I saw it. Must be one of those Anti hunting/trapping groups that paid for that Billboard.

Well I have been dealing with neighbors "Stray" dogs for years now and i am tired of them screwing up my deer hunting and trapping by running all over my land. It is frustrating to put up deer stands in july and stay out of your woods until the bow season and then when you go hunting here comes 2 or three pot lickers running through the woods. Or in trapping seasson they get caught in your trap screwing up your sets and ruining your snares. I have 2 dogs of my own but they are always controlled. So I like dogs and blame the owners not the dogs. I tried to do the right thing and called the local Sheriff. He said he will talk to the owners and that he could fine them per dog. He also said if I catch anymore to call him and he would send someone out to pick it up and take it to a shelter. But how long would I have to wait on someone to show up. I went the nice way 1st but I am done with being nice. Some people should not have kids or dogs cause they do not take care of them.

If the same dogs keep getting in your sets, you could always drive the dogs right to the shelter yourself.

The owner would have to pay to get them back or the dog would get adopted out. This might be the only way to get through to them.

The irresponsible owner is at fault and should face the due consequences, not the dog.

All this is of course assuming the dogs are not aggressive, it fido decides he does not want to play nice, I have a $0.02 solution for that.
