We are using the .22 barrel that exchanges on our Rossi .410/22. It is small and light. It says .22 long but it worked fine.

I am using the same gun. Maybe I am the last one to figure this out, but shooting them in the chest and not the head leads to a lot less mess at the set and when skinning. I also found a taxidermist who is buying the coyote skulls from me. Originally posted by bean: We are using the .22 barrel that exchanges on our Rossi .410/22. It is small and light. and a whole in the chest wont affect the fur value? i know they say the head doesnt get used so thats why most shoot in head but i agree head shots are a bloody mess.

heart shot is quickest way for a humane kill. dont be suprised if ayote will live a couple minutes on a heart shot. got one last year in heart and took a few minutes to die.
