how long in the trap?

Its breeding season, could be from another beav.

If it was on land, could be possum, coon, yote, dog

In trap less than 4 hrs, was about 5 ft off bank in 3 ft of water when I got it. The hole in its head actually broke thru skull and was about inch or inch and half deep. Nothing in water like sticks or rebar that it could of caught itself on anywhere near it.

Another beaver, or possibly a snapping turtle. I caught a turtle eating a muskrat that i had caught in a connibear.

I would say it was another Beaver. I have heard of other Beavers doing this and I would think a snapping turtle would be to lathargic this time of year.

That's what I'm thinking it was, considering I've caught three 70+ lbers in that area in the last three years. I know there are some giants around there. That one was only 40 or so. Gonna have plenty of string silencers to make since that pelt was trashed!
