My son and I were driving around Switzerland county this past Saturday and saw a property that had literally hundreds of doves on a power line and feeding on the ground along a long driveway. I commented that I needed to find who owned the property and ask permission to dove hunt. I found who controls the property and made a phone call, I asked for permission for my son grandson and myself for one day. I promissed that we would not hunt near any building and would clean up after the hunt(no empty shotgun hulls). The owner said...... "go and enjoy yourselves, hunt anytime you want."
Now I know this isn't deer, but one call and I received permission to hunt. It has been YEARS since I needed or asked permission to hunt. It still works! I told the gentleman we will stop by before we hunt so he can put a face with a voice, he told me "Stop by anytime I would like to talk hunting with you", there are people out there who grant permission!
Can't wait, gotta buy 8 boxes of 20 guage dove loads. Anticipate the grandson shooting a bunch!
When science meets tradition there will be sparks.....
