Not so sure I like it . While most will be happy with larger limit I wonder how they will feel when it is reduced ? And at some point it will be reduced . Just ask the folks in S. Ill . how they felt when their limit went done to 1 bird after a couple years of a 3 bird limit .

Oldman has it right! Hunters love to get but they act like small child when it then becomes time to give.

As hunters and conservationists we always have the option of taking less of the resource than we have permision. If a person were to hunt the maximum days of the season and take the limit every day I could see why some might see the limit as being too liberal. However we would expect this limit to be set at this level based on scientific information. For that reason I will take it and shoot that third bird on the occasion that it is presented. I am limited to one buck now and deal with that decision without complaining.

Waterfowl hunters for the most part are very conservation minded hunters.. at least the ones that have been around awhile are. The three bird limit wont be any problem for now im sure.. i know for me anyway ill just take what ill use. One bird or three.
Ive hunted a few times and never fired a shot just to see how many birds i could get to land in my set. Those are fun times.i cant shoulder a gun this year but you can bet ill be out there with a few deeks and a call or two just to be out there

Theres SO MANY geese around where I am, they could raise it to 10......not even a dent. Juust a little north of me, theres those stick around all winter geese, THOUSANDS. You could use a dunkin donuts box for a decoy....they,ll come right in. Altho its hard to tell those birds from the ones usin the flyway, a dead goose is a dead goose. Another bird wont make a dent around here, heck...we cant even golf from them landin, crappin, or takin over the greens...RAISE IT

And how many geese were there in that area 30+ years ago ?? A resident goose was unheard of then . And IF you happened to kill a goose you were the talk of the area .
So we finialy got the population to the point that a person can hunt them and expect to kill a few . So we might as well kill them all .

Gundude - there is the way your average "conservation minded hunter" thinks . Kill em all while you can , it's all a numbers game .

30 years ago when I was living around the chesterton area, there was even MORE...

As far as average hunter? I only take a couple 3 geese a year...Thats all we will eat with walleyes, rabbit, deer, ducks and whatever wildgame we have in the freezer.

This may be like the deer population in some areas.....little to none, while some areas have thousands.

There never was any "finally got the population to a point"... around here, they are everywhere, and I stand by the words....RAISE IT

"30 years ago when I was living around the chesterton area, there was even MORE"

A check of bird count records will either prove or disprove that .
