Yesterday I loaned my buddy Jim a blind and a decoy. Jim had no calls with him and is about as green as it gets when it comes to turkey hunting. He has killed a couple with me guiding him, but never alone. An hour into the hunt I got a text saying he had killed a nice one with his shotgun.

So this morning Jim and I went to the same spot that he killed at yesterday and set up. We had them fired up on the roost ... 5 or 6 different toms with an old Ghostmaker aluminum pot call that I have. Right at day break, two toms pitch down into the field from different angles, join up, and proceed to put on an awesome strut, spit, drum, and gobbling display. In a matter of 5 minutes they closed the 100 yard distance. Jim was my camera man and for never running a video camera before he did a great job. At 7 yards I ended the boss bird's morning with a face slap from a Magnus Bullhead. That DSD jake decoy continues to do it time in and time out.

22 1/2#, 7/8" spurs, and 9 1/2" beard.

Jim had his carcass in the bed of his truck for me to take the tail off for him, so we did a photo together. Two nice birds in two days out of the exact same set up and spot. Jim's bird weighed in at 24#, 1 1/4" spurs, and a 9" beard.

Great pic. Got a spot that I'm going to try the bow. Congrats. The DSD jake is a great decoy.

Congrats to you both. I've had the bow with the bullheads out the past two days, but we were unable to get anything to work in to our setup. Still plenty of time left.

Awesome Toms, guys..... Congrats to you both!
DEC, you're the man killin' birds with bows!

I'm going to have one in my hand next spring for sure... especially after this year's bird.

Good luck Dave!

I guess I need to try a couple of those deeks, my old feather flex dummies seem to make em hang up sometimes.

Another nice bird! Way to go Derek. you prefer the magnus bullheads over the gobbler guillotines?

so they offer anything that will work in a crossbow?

I am shooting slick tricks now.

Nothing like the Dave Smith Decoys!

I moved this video up on my editing list as I am waiting for support footage for other videos to come my way. Here is my hunt from last Thursday for those who are into that sort of thing. It is available in HD if you adjust the settings at the lower right of the Youtube player. Thanks for viewing.

As always, great video. The slow mo shot is spectacular. Can't believe that bird didn't expire immediately! Great bird, thanks for sharing.
