I was just thinking about this. I have killed 3 turkey in my short turkey hunting career. 1 tom that weighed 24 lbs with a 10 1/3" beard and 1 1/4" spurs (my best so far). Plus 2 jakes. If you add up the time spent on those 3 successful hunts I have hunted less than 2 hours total on those three hunts. In fact 2 of those birds I killed within the 1st hour of opening day each of those respective seasons. What does this mean? Well, if I'm going to bag, it's going to happen fast on my first day out of the year. Or it could mean that I have spent 10 years hunting turkey and only killed 3 birds so my success rate is god awful. You decide. LOL

But you had fun every year!

Absofreakinlutely! I'd rather hunt turkey than anything else.

I've been hunting turkey's for over ten years and I have yet to kill one.... But I still try every year though...

Maybe one day...

Yep, gonna be a cold opener....not going to be the first opener with frost.....I know I'll be dressin' warm for the blind... looks to be a cold calm AM and low n/nw breezes all day......2am is comin' early.....2 hour drive to get there.....

This is by far the animal that haunts me the most. I have had so many close encounters with big Tom's and unable to finish the deal. I have been hunting them a long time now and only killed two birds, one nice Tom and one bearded hen.

Hitting a new farm tomorrow that I have been told by the owner she sees turkeys a lot. I have walked it and not real sure where a turkey would even be. Hoping tomorrow to just hear a gobble to clue me in on it. Maybe I will get real lucky and one will walk by!

621...am ... weedy and I over slept... now we are really going to run and gun!

I cant make it out this morning but I am going out for an evening hunt. As I was walking out of the house this morning, for the first time in the 2 1/2 years I have lived in this house, I heard a tom gobbling within 300 yards of my house back in the woods. I've never once heard a tom gobble in my woods......and I couldn't get away from work to go this morning. Figures.

I'll smoke him Saturday morning IF I haven't tagged out yet and IF he's still in the same general area.
