Well we are headed to Tenn for 5 to 6 days of hunting. I may try and do the daily update again this year but hopefully with better luck this year. We are going to hunt tonight so with any luck some good pictures will follow.

Good luck. It would be great to be able to start hunting now in other states.

First day we was walking to the field to get the blind up and see what we could see for the evening. We wasn't even to the field when I heard it goooooobbbbblllleee ( heck this is great) we get to the bottom of the field and he gobbles again he is up in the woods we sneak out to a island of trees throw up the blind put out the decoy. He answer my second call of the year. After some calling and gobbling for about 20 minutes and they are coming I see them two of them. They cross the fence look , gobble, and strut then come running to the decoy. I have a bow dad has a gun. I got no shot at them and he killed one of them after less than an hour. What a good day leave work at 630 this morning and 40 degrees and we got a bird down already in 80 degrees . We hunted the rest of the night saw 3hens and heard 2 more toms go to bed
Excuse my dad he is not very photogentic (sp)

Day 2 I went up the hill above the field where we killed last night. I was late getting up there and no birds were gobbling so I just picked a tree and sit for a while waiting to hear one and let the day unfold. I was over looking a bowl shaped ravine. About an your after sun up I.heard a gobble which I thought was down in the ravine after about 2 gobbles he is coming but I still can't pin point him. I look down in there and see a coyote jogging down crap! Well it wasn't long after this he gobbles and I realize he is above and behind me. So I turn to my right and see his tail fan then his head followed by a gobble now he is going left but he is too close to move to much. He now has me twisted like a pretzel , got to love these birds. I can hear something coming up the ridge to my right but I cent get my head turned that far to see it well a couple putts later he was gone I stood up to move 2 min later and a coyote took off so we was both after the Tom. Dang dogs. The rest of the day was filled with a few distant gobbles. I went to the blind about 2 and we sit the rest of the day seeing a few hens and we called one in and she was mad, it was pretty funny watching her circle the bind looking for the hen that had her upset.

Here is the hen that came in cutting and mad ready to get the new hen she could hear just couldn't find

The two trees to the left if the pic is where the Tom was and the two left center one is a cedar is where the coyote was hiding out

Well the last couple of days didn't change much. We had birds gobbling every day and most days it was later in the day 1 pm was the time you could set your clocks by and even some random gobbles every once I a while. I just couldn't seal the deal but it was a good time spent with my dad and always nice to get a few extra days of turkey hunting in.
