Great place to turkey hunt!!!! A buddy of mine, and our boys have taken a LOT of birds out there in the past. Do NOT overlook the walk in areas. We had good private ground to hunt, and a lot of it. But for a change of pace and new scenery, we hit some walk in areas. They were just as good!!!

I've hunted western KS, lots of birds. Love the different scenery. It is similar to home but the creek drainages are cool, and the ag fields are huge compared to around here.

Plus, if you hunt Kansas close to the Nebraska border...you could pick up three extra tags by hunting both states.

went out there in 2011 had a blast. I only bought one tag as the weather was suppose to turn bad. Dad and I doubled on a pair of gobblin struttin jakes the second day. Uncle killed a jake that morning also. We hunted the eastern part where the rios and eastern crossed, dad and our birds were hybrids and I would say uncles was a rio

this was all on public ground. I found out after the fact we had private ground to go to. For what it was worth the first day dad missed one and I messed up a setup on a mature bird that came in following a hen like a buck chasin a doe was somewhat funny, cousin let one walk at 50yds when his gun would of killed it he just let him do it. I have never heard so many turkeys gobblin in so many different spots they could be heard all over. I will go back when I get two weeks vacation at work..
