anybody know anything about north dakota turkey hunting???

My company is sending me there in april (turkey season) to give a 45 min talk...seems like a real waste to to go there in turkey season and NOT hunt.

Would appreciate any info. Public land DIY would be my preference but an outfitter offering DIY hunts would be ok also

I don't believe you can turkey hunt in North Dakota during the spring season...as a non-resident.

Fall turkey only for NR's.

At least it used to be that way.

Just looked at the regs....ND is still not allowing NR's to hunt spring birds.

Supposed to be some really good catfishing on the Red. Might not be a bad idea to hook up with a guide for a day. Be about the same as a non-resident turkey license possibly.

Justin, depending on where you are out there, the turkey hunting in SD is pretty darn good. Got a buddy here in Indianapolis who goes to the Black Hills area every year and they have a great time and kill a lot of birds.

Got some friends who have been going there for years too. They love it out there.

I am looking into some catfishing options...I will be there late april so it might be a bit early but I am checking on it.

South Dakota merriams turkey hunt would be a dream. Looks to be about a 7 hour drive (or another flight) to get to the black hills area from Fargo.

I go to South Dakota every June and there are turkeys everywhere. See a lot of pheasants, antelope, mule and whitetail deer too.

Is there any public land turkey hunting options in Eastern South Dakota?

Pine Ridge and the Lakota Indian Reservation. Just east of the Black Hills. We are in the Badlands just about everyday.

You wouldn't have to travel all the way to the Black Hills to find turkeys in South Dakota.
For a true Merriams, yes...but just to turkey hunt, no.

thank you, I see the deadline is 2/14. Looks like the NE counties do not have any non resident licenses. I am looking at the SE counties....thanks for the info.

Hope you can work something out on the turkey hunting out there, you would love it. We see tons of birds while out there pheasant hunting.
Weve hunted a lot around Hettinger and around Horsehead lake area.. Just an fyi if you hunt around any kind of water you have to use steel shot.
