Yesterday, April 25th, was easily the best day of turkey hunting I have ever experienced.
I called in 6 longbeards! 4 in one group and my buddy killed one. His first longbeard ever. Had another one sneak in behind us right before he shot his bird. That bird saw me moving while calling to the group of 4 coming in and spooked. After celebrating his kill. We literally moved 75 yards down a logging road and set up and started calling again and got an immediate response.
My bird came in with the sun behind it. When he crested our ridge he gobbled and I could see his breath in the sunlight and cold early morning air! The sun was also shining through his tail feathers. It was awesome!
25 pounds, 9" beard, (31mm) 1.22" spurs...
I rolled him at 40 yards with my H&R 10 guage Turkey Pardner.
Beautiful morning...
