I was going to go scout Owen Putnam park for turkey season, are you aloud to hunt the whole park or are there restrictions? I was going to go there tomorrow and scout can anyone give any pointers or do they have maps where you can hunt

Thanks

How was the scouting? You Can get the no hunting zone map at the forest office. The state forests are usually pretty good.

The office was closed, so I couldn't get a map seen 8 hens and 1 Tom. Never heard any gobbling. They are logging a lot of the woods there, doubt I will go back. I will try another a state park

Try a state forest as most if not all state parks prohibit any kind of hunting except the deer control hunts.

Owen Putnam is a State Forest and most of the them(except Deam Lake and Starve Hollow) do not have weekend hours. Probably would be best to call or email the property and ask for a map.

My two longest spurred gobblers came off state forest land that was logged. Made me sick when they logged it but the years following were actually better hunting. I'm gonna try a new clear cut area in the Hoosier this year. Don't give up on it if it's convenient for you to get to. Google earth it. Get topos and then scout it. You'll find some good areas.
