hmmm. I did not see this until just now, I read it the same way $30 for a chance, 100 extra antlered buck licenses given out for hunting in January. Talk about some bonus revenue for the DNR!!

I think I pointed this out during the session. HB1208 did pass and was signed into law by Gov. Pence effective this year. The trick is that the bill says "the department may adopt rules". It doesn't say they "must adopt rules" only that they may. Those rules would have to come from the NRC. It might happen this year but the groundwork is laid for it to happen.
As I understood it the "lottery" would require that you already have killed a buck. Then for $30 you could purchase a chance to win a chance to purchase a second tag. It could create some additional funding for DNR but it wouldn't be significant in my opinion.
Now that I reread the bill it also doesn't say where that $30 goes. Fish & Wildlife Fund?

Why would anyone waste money on a chance to waste more money for an extra buck tag valid only after the buck population has already been laid to waste?

Because a person in a House district was unhappy he could not kill 2 bucks, plain and simple.
