I pay $140 for a license. An extra dollar for me would be less than 1%. You got screwed. lol.

What are the fees for? Did DNR outsource the online license system and they are vender fees? When the DNR wanted me to update my personal info I figured something was about to change. h.h.

My understanding is that if you purchase your license through a retailer you won't incur the fees.

Looks like they did. I can see a 3% credit card fee, but this? revenue going to a private company? Not right.

I spoke with someone @ the dnr about this a few weeks back and was told that the software used to purchase licenses was expensive to maintain and the fee was to help offset those costs.

Exactly +1.... he bought one of the cheapest lic. offered that covers almost everything and now crying about a convenience fee basically same as a ATM fee....SMH

I got a Idea....next time get in your car and dive to a retailer and buy there where you won't incur any fees!!!

DNR launches new license purchasing system

DNR’s new online system makes it easier to buy fishing, hunting, and trapping licenses. INHuntFish.com requires customers 18 and older to create an online account. Customers use the account to purchase their licenses, purchase or redeem gift certificates, acquire their Harvest Information Program (HIP) number, and make donations.

The same kid is not required to have a license to hunt as a non resident in Kentucky, but IN keeps adding to the cost to hunt here. It is just not right for a private company to profit from license sales. Revenue should go to the IN DNR if anything

I have hunted on a lifetime license since 2000.

I have seen the cost and number of needed licenses increase since then. I broke even years ago on this investment.

Yes, I am a cheapskate who likes to save a $. =) Friends will tell you I will gladly walk across campus for free pizza and at home use soap, shampoo, and conditioner from hotels I stay in for work travel. I would not even consider paying a fee to access my money, ie an ATM fee.

Privatization is the rule here in IN. If it can be privatized, it will be. The Daniels, Pence continuum is big on that.

As long as I have been buying youth licenses, which is about 11 years, they have been $7. Inflation over that period is a cumulative 23.3%.

You can buy your licenses by mail or in person at the state office building and avoid the fees. I'm pretty sure parking fees at the privatized meters will eat up your savings. Not to mention gas and time. A stamp's only $.45 though.

I bought all my licenses at a retailer for that very reason. Always bought mine online until this year. Was already at the retailer so didn't cost me anything extra to buy since I was already there. For me it would be easier to swallow if they said they actually increased license fees, but to pay for an upgraded system, I'm out.

One upside is when you forget to get your daughter's license the morning of her youth hunt and can still get it at 4:30 am smile Not that I would do that!

I like buying online - can print out license and save the receipt online. I usually print out 2 or 3 times in case they get wet and to ensure I Never forget it. I put a copy in my car/truck, my wallet and in my gun case.

Its a dollar, man. Plus, I like buying my licenses any time I want. Never have to wait for a store to be open.

Hey, I waited at Walmart for 30 minutes while the dunce bags in the sporting goods dept tried to figure out how to print out a general hunting license about 4 weeks ago. I had to go across the street, wait for Cabelas to open (15 minutes) and then get it printed. Total time = 1 hour of waiting. Or you can buy online and it takes a minute and you get 3 copies.
