Good luck to everyone this weekend. I will be guiding my 13-year-old son in Montgomery county trying to put a tag on a buck or doe.

Stay safe!

76chevy, congrats to your son!! Well done by both of you. Way to field dress and cool the meat in a very short time. Should make some very tasty meat and many fond memories.

May all our hunts be safe, enjoyable, and deeply appreciated.

Thanks. Miller Meats in Waynetown is wonderful if anyone is looking for a processor. They do great work.

Usually available to let me hang a deer up when the temps are hot like today.

My son killed his first deer today, a piebald spike buck. I'm still on cloud nine. Story and pics in separate thread.

We had a huge doe come right in just like she'd read the script but the light winds were a bit swirly and an errant puff saved her life. Still a great morning with my 15 year old daughter.

I had 4 of my grandkids down to hunt my place. They ranged in age from 9 to 12 years old. Well Sunday morning we had a nice 8 point slip in on us and Eli the 10 year old saw him. Eli was calm as he settled the cross hairs of the .357 Marlin on the Bucks vitals, he squeezed the trigger just as he has practiced, the buck did a mule kick before he ran off and then the uncontrollable shaking began. After waiting a hour and following a short blood trail we fount the 150 Lb 8 point with a perfect heart shot. This was Eli's first time shooting at a deer and he got a nice one.
The other 3 grandkids helped with tracking and field dressing the buck but didn't get a chance to get a deer for themselves. We still have time to try to fill their tags this season. I am so proud of all of them.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
