I don't remember where I got this or if someone one here posted it, but I used this all last year and it worked.

*Homemade Scent Killer*
Now that the season is near, I will again post the recipe I use for homemade scent killer that works and is cheap to make!

Ingredients for Scent Killer:
16 oz. (2 cups) Peroxide ( yes, I use the brown bottled stuff)
16 oz. (2 cups) Distilled Water or water from a dehumidifier
¼ cup baking soda
1 oz. On non-scented shampoo (I use Hunters Specialties green shampoo)
(Or adjust amounts to whatever size you make accordingly)

Let sit for several days (1 gallon milk jug works good with lid loose) This recipe is also good for removing blood from your hands in the field after dressing your critter! No dried blood, presents a better image!

Here an idea for some scent free 'baby wipes'...
mix up a batch of scent killer as per instructions above...
take a roll of heavy duty paper towels (Bounty, Scott, etc..not the 49 cent cheapies)
cut the roll in half with an electric knife so you have 2 short rolls of paper towels(don't try a regular knife... it doesn't work). Pull the cardboard tube from the middle of the half roll
Find a rubbermaid or tupperware container big enough to hold the 1/2 roll of paper towels (and with a good sealed lid).
Put one of the 1/2 rolls of paper in the container, pour in the scent killer, let the wipes soak up the scent killer, keep covered tight so they don't dry out. Because the inner cardboard tube is out, pull the paper towels out the from the middle like a kleenex!

Laundry Soap:

1 ¼ cup Borax (20 Mule Team is perfect)
1 ¼ cup washing soda (not baking soda)
1 bar of Hunters Specialty bar soap (green stuff)
Grate the bar of soap into ½ gal boiling water in a 1 gallon pot (add slowly) stir until completely dissolved (this may take a while)
Pour mixture into 5 gal bucket
Add 3 ½ gallons of hot/warm water
Make sure any “chunks” of soap are fully dissolved
Add borax & washing soda
(you can add 1 cup of baking soda if you desire, I have not tested this and....well......it could screw stuff up!!)
Stir until well mixed (stir from the bottom as the borax/washing soda tends to settle)
Wait 24 hrs (Don’t cheat!!)
If there is a “scum on top after 24 hrs, mix well again and let sit for 24 hrs
Now you will have 4 gallons of a gel like soap. (don’t worry if it’s “watery”)
This is a LOW SUDSING FORMULA that's good for 80-100 loads.
This is an incredible cheap formula that works as well as the expensive commercial detergents.

Also to save money Arm an Hammer makes scent free Deo. Dove makes scent free soap and shampoo.

I also use the "ALL" free and clear laundry detergent. It is free of perfumes and dyes. I do use the Arm and Hammer scent free deo too. It is basically the same stuff the hunting industries have but 1/2 the price.

For hunting season, I usually use scent free laundry soap or baking soda on one washing cycle, then wash it with only water for 2 entire washing cycles, then hang outside for 24-48 hours.

I like your recipes, though!

The sniff test .Can scent - elimination sprays beat the nose of a drug - sniffing dog ? Which has 100 million fewer scent receptors than a whitetail.
NO, That said , good luck.

It's my thought that the scent killer with the Peroxide is killing and neutralizing bacteria on a human.......I don't think it's gonna mask the smell of say a Ham n Cheese on rye ....

I noticed that at the CB farm. I wondered how it was made.

I found this interesting. I thought optical brighteners = uv brightners....guess not.

Optical brighteners are chemicals that absorb the ultraviolet and violet region of colors in a fabric. They "trick" the eye into seeing a brighter shade and reflect more light. The Near Infrared, or nIR, capability of the ABU is degraded when washed with optical brighteners.

Most commercial detergents contain optical brighteners. There is no way to tell whether a product has optical brighteners alone by the labeling. Impact of optical brighteners is permanent; it cannot be "washed out."

The Air Force Uniform and Recognition Programs page states the following detergents are optical brightener free and safe for use with the ABU:
- Cheer (liquid and powder)
- Cheer Free
- Exchange Select Cold Water Wash
- All Detergent Free Clear
- Country Save Liquid Detergent
- Allens Laundry detergent (power and liquid)
- Bi-O-Kleen Laundry Detergent (powder and liquid)
- Charlie's Soap (powder and liquid)
- ECOS Free and Clear Laundry Detergent
- Mountain Green Liquid Laundry Detergent
- Nature Clean (liquid and powder)
- Oxy-Prime Powder
- Planet Ultra (liquid and powder)
- Seventh Generation Laundry detergents
- Sportwash
- Sun and Earth Liquid
- Surf Powder (not Surf Liquid)
- Washeze
- Woolite, original and dark
