They dropped the ones they figured had enough taken from 'em for a while....every other year or every two years they figure will keep the deer in check....also some of the parks were not getting enough hunters, maybe they also figure with these, the same numbers will apply with a better chance of filling the quotas ??

Last year my brother and I were drawn for the 2nd hunt at Tippy River.First day we spent 7+ hours on stand,2nd day 4 hours and saw zero deer. We've hunted there for years.... so I guess it wasn't that suprising. .. cool

I've gone to Spring Mill Park for several years in a row. They were one of only a couple parks that allowed "Stand-by" hunters...but not this year. I think that the "Dunes" park was another that had stand-bys but it's too far for me to have gone there.

Yes, the Dunes did have stand by's as they were not filling their quotas....they hunted the Dunes two years straight and this past season they took out very little deer so they are laying off for a year or two... I talked to the property Manager last week....

Shades and Turkey run need to be dropped, hunters at Shades left last year because they saw zero deer.. my buddy was one of them.. talked to a worker who worked the hunt and said numbers were way down..
Worked for Turkey Run in 2013 and didnt see hardly any deer in the park, saw 4 deer there for the whole summer and fall..

When I was at Shades (maybe 2013?) I didn't see any deer. Shakamak last year, I saw one each day and they were bucks running from being shot at and I was nearly shot at myself. Somebody was taking multiple shots at a running buck and it ran right towards me and the guy just kept shooting! I've been drawn for Dunes, Crane, Newport, Shades and Shakamak and I'm 0 for 5 on harvesting a deer on a draw hunt, but it's still fun. And I'll put in again this year!
