I'll be out...cold, but out....

This is going to be a great weekend for me. My son and 2 grandsons are coming over from Illinois to hunt. First time hunting with the grandsons. Good luck to all and stay safe.

Nope. Both of my daughters scored and I scored during bow season. No need for any more meat. Herds are already decimated in the areas that I hunt.

I had a couple of youth from Ohio that were going to come over and hunt, but they had last minute soccer games come up so they cannot make it. So I think I will grab a big cup of coffee Saturday morning and simply drive around policing my properties for fence sitters and trespassers. Gun season brings out the gems unfortunately.

Ive been waiting on gun season only hunting 4 times so far but now its on. My goal this year is to kill a 150"+ with my Ruger Super Redhawk 454 Casull and have it on film. Got all the film equipment set up so all I need is a big old buck to show up. h.h.

I'll be out with my Dad (78)! Three generations will be out after opening day.

My dog followed me into the woods today where i will be hunting saturday morning...will that flush away deer or not???

Shouldn't matter beyond today.

I'll be out the whole week, been hunting since yesterday. Could care less if I shoot a deer this weekend, I'll be all about finding my son his first antlered deer. Good luck everyone stay safe and shoot straight.

My Dad, my brother, and a friend will be giving it a shot or maybe a few shots. Gunshots only for me but the others might taste a little Crown after the hunt is through. I'll keep them just tipsy enough to win all their money in poker Got a pot of chicken chili. Hope it's not too beanie as we will all be in a little camper together.

I had a bunch of coon hunters in my woods night before a gun opener. We shot 3 bucks in that woods the following morning. I would not worry about it.

Yep i will be out, not sure how long lol. Gonna sit out at a football game tonight and then a few hours later sit in the woods. Life is good !!

I will be down in Orange County with family & friends... hoping to get my cousin his first antlered buck!!! He's had a hard time of it over the last several years!!!

just went out and confirmed the sights on my muzzleloaders. one from each at 60 yds just for good measure.

Henry county all day, hoping to finally lay eyes on a nice buck when the orange army hits the woods.

Well, I'll be hunting at my place over a heavy thick bedding area (saw 11 deer there last weekend...3 does came into range but passed up on them). I'm hoping that a buck will come in and now I can see over 3 fields because they finally got them picked this week. I think with this weekend weather that there WILL be some deer die. I'll be at work...but that was the plan all along. Today was my 1st day back at work since October 29th. My last opening day of firearms season was way back in 1991.

Cant stress the safety part enough, like Bo said. We need to stop and take a minute to think things through.....Reason being I will going to be with my son, but really will be sitting this opener out due to a bone head move I did at wrk.
I smashed and fractured 3 fingers on my right hand, cant shoot my bow or gun for 4 weeks....

I'll be there for sure to watch the sun come up. Will have my trusty recurve in the tree with me. Matter of fact, it and my safety harness are already there waiting on me. Had some minor surgery done on my right shoulder blade this morning......as of this evening, I was still able to pull my bow. Will probably carry my .357 Max to the tree just in case. This morning was slow and cold. I got out of the stand around early noon time. Didn't even see a deer during time in the stand. As I walked past the elevator up along the pipeline there was a doe with 2 yearlings...the ones from last weekend. I went to one of our blinds for an hour...nothing. Then went to a couple chairs set up behind our house...nothing. Maybe tonight will bring better luck.

I got a 7 point at 7:30 this morning. Saw a spike at about 7.
I saw a few big ones in the back of pickup trucks but most people I talked to said it was an unusually slow opener.

Gonna guess 17 inches wide, was running a doe hard. Wasn't as big as I'd thought. But he's a solid 8 pointer.
