Hello everyone been reading on this page for years but just recently made a profile again.
Looking at the forecast for the next week and it looks like there will be chances of higher winds and wind gusts almost everyday. Just wondering how much it will affect deer movement with the prerut starting, and how everyone adjusts their hunting plans when the wind picks up?

IMO, if mature bucks are in the mood to cruise for does...strong winds won't stop them.

Avoid skinny trees

Seriously though the only thing to keep me out of the woods from Nov 1 to 25 is maybe severe T-storms or a filled tag. Typing from a high perch up a thick tree right now

I hate high winds... but bucks will still be harrassing them some does somewhere!

Through all my tears in the wind this evening... I did manage to watch a 2.5yr buck chasing several does in the high winds today. He also made a scrape on the field's edge and peed in it before chasing a doe out of sight!

Bowbo they were moving pretty good here too. Had my new camera along and got some decent video of posturing bucks. Will try and post that on another thread later.

Saw seven tonight including three smaller bucks. Winds were 10-15 most of the evening from four o'clock first buck sightings til dark.

I was tree surfing tonight also!!!! Deer movement was good. they were a little jittery though. The high winds did allow me to slip into the back side of their bedding area undetected.
