Anybody familiar with Crawford county around Marengo Cave. My new lease is in the area and I was wondering what I could realistically expect as far as quality bucks. The property seems to have a lot of deer. I was just wondering what normally comes out of the area.

not as many booners in the record books as SE IN or west central IN but still very good potential and high deer numbers. Are you close to HNF?

Not really east of 66 near the Little Blue River. I have never hunted the big timber before and really looking foward to the oppurtunity. I just hope my central Indiana skills transfer.

I hunt Crawford every year since the '90's. All mine is on public for deer and turkey. Beautiful area. Just look for edges, changes in terrain, food sources, benches and saddles. I've got two on the wall from that area, not crazy, the biggest is probably 125. Lots of deer, you'll fill a freezer. PM if you have specific questions about the area, sports shops, etc. Good luck and enjoy!

family tradition, I live in CC on Little Blue. I could probably show you some deer that came off of that property. There are 3 leases close to here and one of them is brand new. I figure that is the one you are on. Send me a PM and let me know if yours is the one by the old hatchery near I-64.

Little Blue is full of big bends. I cant really think of any Harrison Crawford State forest that touches Little Blue. Its mostly Hoosier National Forest. It is all HNF around Sulphur. If the lease is by Beechwood, then it could be H/C State Forest maybe. I'll send you a PM.

Family, I sent you a PM. It is very nice down this way. There are a lot of big woods down here. I hope you got a chance to walk your lease. Don't get surprised by the orange army that you encounter down here on the state land near the property. Most only hunt the first two weekends of gun season. I live right on HWY 62 and Little Blue is in my back yard. There have been a few times I thought we would get flooded out. Good luck and give me a call.

I've got some property in Crawford east of Grantsburg. I'm fairly new to hunting, but have hunted there the last 3 years. Last two years I haven't seen many deer while hunting, but did manage to get a small 9 point last year.

Dsaw welcome to the board. That is some beautiful country up that way. Enjoy your place and keep us posted!

Family I promise you will enjoy the area. You should get a quad map and check out some nearby gov't ground too....for a change of pace especially in bow.

Unfortunately, I still have a bad wheel and can't get as far back as I would like. The rough terrain is too much with no quad muscle. The moving around and hunting way back in hills is going to be up to my dad and cousin. I can't even drive a quad because of when it gets hung up. I'll enjoy my time in the woods and try to get as mature of a buck as I can. I appreciate all tips on here so far. Kannapelw I will give you a call. I'm sure I drove past your house last weekend.
