Where are the fawn's ???

The reason being that my Wife and I live just a few miles from airport property (Indy)and on cool eve's we like to go for a drive to check out the deer. We've been out several times and have seen quite a few deer out, both bucks and does and I mean 10 to 20 at a time. With that many does being seen there are no fawns. very strange if you ask me.

I ask this because of a article about deer sterilization in New York and also no quite the same thing but the sharpshooter hunt (killing) that they want to do down in Bloomington..

What is your guys and gals take on this ???

Ive seen a few up here with singles...no twins....was a very tough winter....all I can say is if you dont have the numbers of deer you think you should in the area you hunt...PASS on the antlerless critters this season. Or dont take as many....

Thanks jjas for the article, very good info. I had taken things into cosideration when raising the question. I do have an urban zone area a few miles away that I hunt and have seen several fawns, one doe with twins and a few other singles. Just put the trail cam out at the UZ to see whats around.

Jeff.... Not taking antlerless deer is what we have done on the farm I hunt in Switzerland Co. When putting out cameras a few weeks ago it looks like its helping seen quite a few deer.

I will keep posting on the deer around the airport. Thanks for the input..

Luke and I have cameras out and been glassing a few times. We have seen fawns and more deer activity than the past few years~which is a very good thing.

I've got lots of fawns, see them nearly every day. Kill coyotes in the winter if you want to see more fawns.

They are probably still tucked in. However, I saw 2 roadkilled fawns on I-69 from Indy to Ft. Wayne yesterday so I guess they are starting to venture out a bit. You should start seeing them soon.
