Sadly this will make no difference once seasons open and we are hunting. The deer license in the pocket and a body in front of the gun will dictate harvest.

How many people are able to use a chain saw on the property they hunt, much less plant a food plot?

Deer in my area(Switzerland county) are fine and during turkey season I saw no sign of winter stress. As always I find it laughable that an article proclaims the rut occurred on X dates. Same dates EVERY year. Be careful on mowing hay fields? Don't know a farmer who isn't careful.

But when you get paid per word, it all is the same.....

And......... can anyone tell me why this year is "critical"?

I believe the author feels this year is "critical" due to the severity of the past Winter.

Sad to say I found three more dead doe last week while mushroom hunting. That 4 total and all were doe. I have close to 20 some deer staying on my property most of the time so I say about 20% died from winter kill. I feed corn and hay too but the winter up here was as severe as they get for our area. I will not kill any doe again this year. I had a piebald doe who was close to 7 years old and she had an offspring piebald doe. I hope she made it and will find out when I set cameras out. h.h.

HH:

Why would you protect an inferior deer? Piebald and albino deer are genetic inferior deer, why not take them out of the herd?

It is a fact that until you take (or winter takes) more than 62% of a given herd the deer herd will continue to grow.

Indiana did not have any where near that in winter kill, the problem is the guy behind the trigger!

JB, I like to see them because they arent that plentiful and really dont want to shoot her but I might this year due to her age if she survived. Ive heard it said a piebald doesn't reproduce a piebald but she did. I had her and an offspring last year. I kind of hope that she might produce a piebald buck. h.h.
