It would be interesting to know how many were sent out, and to what type of license holders. Ie. Lifetime, landowner, etc.

This is not official by any means, but as far as I've been able to tell over the years, they don't send the surveys to license-exempt landowners. Only to annual license buyers, and LTL holders. If that's correct, it would exclude a very large segment of the hunting demographic.

With tele-check in use, they should have an ample supply of license-exempt names/addresses.

What'd I tell you all.....

Lesson #1 the IDNR learned from the Prop 1.0 and 2.0 fallout......WHEN YOU WANT SECURE FEEDBACK, YOU MAIL IT TO OUR HOMES!!! What hunters REALLY want will now be heard!! The Prop 2.0 proponents abused the unsecure system that then undermined the IDNR.

Never Again.......with decisions/changes that matter.....

Gotta Love It..... cool

Kinda reminds me of the days the OBR was being discussed. If you would have listend to Woody's gang of a "few" and his/their "chatter" you would have thought 99% of the deer hunters would not want an OBR.....but once the SECURE SURVEYS went out....70% of the hunters wanted the OBR. And the little man raged about it for 10 more years....only to see it go permanent in the end....LOL!!! laugh

And Woody sends me hateful little PM's telling me I stink at predicting the future. LOL!!!!!! If he only knew.... wink He rode his "one trick pony" into the sunset.....and that sunset is now LONG GONE. wink

Said I was Selected at Random... With that I would think they are trying to get the real Picture and not just the Rants ofa few. I am a LTL and a landowner. I answered Honestly, You might not like what you hear when the survey Responces cant be flooded with input from just one group

You bet I will like it. My gripe from DAY ONE the last "go around" was that unsecure methods were being used to represent what the average deer hunter wanted.

Let the chips fall where they may........but let the chips fall SECURELY!!!!

New Day is upon us.......and THIS method is good. cool This is Theeeee EXACT method we proposed to a Senator with IDNR Brass at the table a few years back in Indy when we saw what was being done with Prop #1. There were no heads nodding "no" to our idea for more secure feedback at that table and in that meeting. wink

And Walllaaaaa........it is here...... cool

Right now the advocates that force Prop 2.0 upon deer hunters AND our IDNR are totally FREAKING OUT that the IDNR is going to this more SECURE method. They do NOT want this to happen.....they do not want REAL unmanipulated data exposed........even though their signature line in every post here says ......"data, there is no substitute"....LOL!!!!!!!!!!! (But I'm sure that "signature line" will be disappearing quickly....LMAO!!)

Entice an arguement??

If someone wants to get in an arguement that they don't want secure feedback given to the IDNR.....yep, I'll stand up and point my finger at them and paint them for the true color that they are and represent. I have ZERO problem doing that.......I don't do the "door mat thing" real well.....

Keep in mind that of the 1,000's on this site.....it's simply the same few I get a "rise" out of. I just feel it's VERY applicable to this type of thread that the history we just went through......has brought about more SECURE feedback. The ones that set that stage need to read what they now have "reaped" for what they "sewed".....

.....and I have ZERO empathy for those that now grind their teeth for the bed they made for themselves.

My posts are not directed at you Dawnpatrol.....just sayin'...

As I was saying....

I'd be absolutely thrilled if the DNR wanted to try and implement a more secure survey.

I know for a fact that in the past, there were instances of the same person posting similar comments under multiple names and IP addresses.

Random selection surveys mailed directly to deer hunters was the IDNR's data collection process for many years....prior to the internet.

A former director once told me the internet would be the end of wild game management as we know it. He was right. Maybe this is a sign the new regime has learned from their mistakes?

Exactly...and they have also been doing this in the internet era.

There was also "FACE TO FACE" input given on prop 1. The DNR set up and had meetings around the state the Sportsman Round Table also did the same.

I received one today and am a landowner, however, I purchased the bundle license also. I though the survey touched on all the issues in a concise way. The IDNR catches a lot of flack, but if there are any on here I would thank them. If we put ourselves in their shoes, it is a truly daunting task to try to please meat hunters, trophy hunters, farmers, insurance cos., with one set of rules. I found myself filling it out as a trophy hunter, but then again, I'm just happy to be in the woods. Our perception becomes our reality, but that doesn't necessarily make it truth.

THROBAK,

The DNR conducts these deer hunter surveys every few years. Contrary to what some want others to believe they are absolutely nothing new.

See..
www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/3352.htm

Under wildlife Click on search reports and type in deer hunter and see that these deer hunter surveys go back into at least the 1980s.

If I'm reading the list correctly, it appears the last deer hunter survey was in 2010....four years ago.

Point is...one heck of alot happened in that four years....and suspect internet feedback (to say the least) played a key role in the outcome.

I have NEVER received a deer survey. I have gotten a couple on small game, and fur bearers over the years.
